President & CEO

Vanguard Resources, Inc.

Santa Fe, NM

Anne Peterson Sperling is the president and CEO of Vanguard Resources, Inc.  "Bringing Clarity to Employee Benefits" is her tag line and mission.  She does this through teaching, coaching, consulting, and selling employee benefits products and services to corporate, multiemployer, and public employers.

Anne has over 35 years of employee benefits consultation experience.  She specializes in difficult-to-insure situations and enjoys solving the puzzle with all the contacts and resources that she has.

Over her professional career, Anne served on many industry committees and boards.  She is best known throughout the producer industry as the national chair of the Professional Development Committee for the National Association of Health Underwriters (NAHU).  As National Committee Chair, Anne personally authored and taught two certification courses called "Voluntary Worksite Benefits" and "Understanding the Patient Protection Affordable Care Act" (aka Obamacare).

Anne currently teaches "Health Plan Basics" nationally for the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans.  The audience is usually multiemployer managers and union trustees, public employer benefit managers, and corporate employer human resource managers and CFO's.  Other courses that Anne authored a delivered for the Foundation include "Targeted Messaging For Success:  A Year-Round Employee Benefits Communication Strategy" and "The Ultimate Open Enrollment Checklist".  Anne is also on the faculty of the National Alliance for Insurance Education and Research for whom she teaches a new insurance producer course.

Anne has numerous awards for her distinguished service to her profession and to her community including the prestigious New Mexico Women of Influence Award, Santa Fe Business Women of the Year, Santa Fe Chamber of Commerce Volunteer of the Year awards, highest level charter member and lifetime industry achievement Leading Producer Round Table designation and the New Mexico Association of Health Underwriters "Anne Sperling Award".

Anne was one of the founders and first Executive Director for the New Mexico Health Insurance Alliance (NMHIA).  The NMHIA was a non-profit quasi-governmental organization authorized by the state legislature and Governor Bruce King in 1993.  It was an alliance of insurers, not consumers.  The NMHIA legislative charter was to provide increased access to voluntary (not mandatory) health insurance coverage for small, hard-to-insure, employers.  NMHIA opened its door in 1994 and closed its door in 2015 with the replacement program - NM Health Insurance Public Exchange.  Anne trained over 800 insurance producers to market NMHIA across the state and with that foundation, the program remained successful and purposeful for over 20 years even though Anne exited it in 1998.

Anne specializes in post-age 65 retiree solutions with her designation of Certified Senior Advisor from the Society of Senior Advisors.  Solutions include Employer Group Waiver Programs (EGWP) and Group Medicare was well as individual solutions.

Anne has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Human Resources Management and Compensation Administration from the University of Vermont.

She is married to the Fire Chief for Santa Fe County, David M. Sperling, for 38 years.  She has two adult children.  She enjoys being with her family doing all sorts of outdoor activity and she is an avid fitness runner.
